Diwali- a festival yet to be discovered

Diwali, is most definitely a festival of lights and joy, although, we still seem to look at it with only one eye. We forget that it represents the return of lord Rama, Sita and Lakshman. We forget that it is a symbol of love, harmony and togetherness, that it is the beginning of a new chapter in the story book of life.

On closer notice, one single Diwali Diya shows us qualities which we must keep with us forever. The cool brown earthen diva, emits positivity and calm and drives away negative energy. the camphor or the oil represents talent waiting to be ignited. Lastly the flame represents passion and determination, igniting talent and working with diligence.

On the other hand, Diwali has become a festival of noise, crackers and partying. Old traditions have been replaced by the eagerness to stay up all day playing cards, to dance to Bollywood music and to burst crackers which only seem to harm the environment. It is truly erroneous that Diwali is celebrated this way.

Adding on, Diwali is a festival of choice and chance. It is one's choice to celebrate Diwali correctly and through this they get the chance to experience the true essence of this festival. It is one's choice not to be consumed by the sheer size of the mountain of life and through this one gets the chance to learn and continue leaning throughout one's life.

In summary, Diwali is a festival yet to be discovered and understood. Then only will we truly enjoy Diwali as it is.
