EVEN A ROSE HAS ITS THORN

This poem relays how nobody is perfect, how everyone has strength and weaknesses and how these weaknesses should be embraced and worked upon for they too can be undeniable strengths.

A scarlet flower of picturesque beauty,
A gem for royalty to adorn,
But that is not it's only duty,
For even a rose has its thorn.

The sky on earth shimmering blue,
A journey to embark,
However one must tread with chary too,
For even the ocean has its shark.

The giant freckled with rocky terrain,
Where the mighty river is born,
However it maybe of disdain,
That even a mountain has its storm.

The living lantern shining bright,
With many a dangling string,
It sure can put up a fight,
For even a jellyfish has its sting.

A loyal companion by your side,
A brave and daring knight,
But there maybe times you have to hide,
For even a dog has its bite.

You see no creature is flawless,
For there's weakness to their might,
Even with light there will come darkness,
But its our choice to fight.

A rose's thorns may not appeal,
But they come handy in a fight,
On closer look it may reveal,
Its flaw makes it strong when used right.

A shark may scare away,
Have a hazardous notion,
But its the shark who claims its prey,
When there's too many fish in the ocean.

A storm may terrify,
And blow away with its might,
But its that storm in the sky,
Which keeps the balance right.

A sting may traumatise,
And break up a fantasised beach date,
But one should realise,
That this saves the jellyfish from a terrible fate.

A bite from a friendly canine might,
Fill one with fear,
But it is this very bite,
That scares all danger which is near.

When one embraces their flaws,
And works on them at length,
It is no longer a lost cause,
For it can be turned into a strength.

Nobody is perfect, not in any way,
But we mustn't be forlorn,
For its true when they say,
Even a rose has its thorn.

MAGIC- A Realistic Approach

Spells, potions, enchantments and more,
Super strength and the ability to soar.
Magic is thought to unrealistic,
Personally I believe this to be ballistic,
For I have seen magic with my very on eyes,
And this isn't one of those childish lies.
It was once that I saw on the street in my town,
A poor old man who sat with a frown.
Then there came a kind witch, with her suitcase and suit,
And gave the old man a magical fruit.
For it was that fruit on that street in my town,
That turned the old man's frown upside down.
Let me tell you of another such tale,
One you won't hear at Harvard or Yale.
Not long back I saw a man who was blind,
It was his way which the man didn't seem to find.
A wizard  happened to be walking by,
And believe it or not he gave that man sight in his eye.
For the wizard held on to the hand of that man who was blind,
And in that moment the man left his confusion behind.
They walked together even though not too fast,
And the lost way was found at last.
I saw such magic once more, that's true,
And now I share this tale with you.
I once saw in lush green park,
A trembling dog who lost his bark.
The dog seemed to have hurt his paw,
A strolling sorcerer then I saw.
The sorcerer got out some tape, and caste a spell
And treated the animal quite well,
For it wasn't long after in the lush green park,
That I once more heard the dog bark.
You must have noticed these magical beings were in fact quite like us,
Yes that's right, they're ordinary people who go to work and ride the bus.
But these people possess more magical power than anyone from a book,
They have the strength to overcome each and every crook.
For they wield the spell of kindness, a great power indeed,
For they brew the potions of humility, and rid themselves of greed.
They are enchanted by diligence and work  tirelessly,
And yet they make time for the powers of humility.
Magic indeed exists in our world and its been there for a while,
In the hearts of those people who make others smile.
It is such magic that spreads happiness and joy,
Through these wizards in every girl and boy.
Now you understand magic and its capabilities,
How it is not just a component of fantasies.
This is how I conclude my magical rhyme,
As I hope this magic spreads with the advent of time.

Igniting Endeavour

Today, we struggle at the hands of the unsolvable,
Husbands quarantined from wives, sister from brothers,
Yet, we call this situation “not plausible”
And ignorantly blame others.

Today, sanitiser sells more than treats,
All activities have come to a halt.
We wear masks as we walk down streets,
But still scream “God, it’s not my fault”

Today, we sit completely isolated,
As alone as we can be,
One thought being contemplated,
“Why is the world against me”

We speak a white lie
With these statements that we say,
For, people really die,
Because of Yesterday.

Yesterday, that wrapper was thrown on the floor,
Those trees were mercilessly chopped, torn down.
Yesterday, was when we chose to ignore,
Yet now, we sit with a frown.

Yesterday was when plastic replaced water,
Those millions of fishes died,
We were the ones behind the slaughter,
Yet, now we are the ones that cry.

Yesterday, we showed off our Gucci shoes,
We flaunted to every single friend,
We longed for those aah’s and ooh’s,
Even though it was all pretend.

Yesterday, was a competition, each one on their own,
“Missing” signs for friendships that tore,
An incessant race, no time to groan,
For everything was fair in love and war.

Now we yearn for tomorrow,
It may never come, lost forever,
We live on thoughts of sorrow,
Rather than igniting endeavour.

Forget the words: never, pain, sorrow,
fate, hate and taboo,
For if we wish to see tomorrow,
Focus on what we must do.
Surviving a Brand Quarantine During Coronavirus – Adweek

We must learn to respect, every creature
Put aside our ignorance at last,
Not abuse and exploit Mother Nature,
For she can leave us aghast.

We must help repair the damage done,
Take responsibility for our actions,
Ignite a fire that once begun,
Leads to a series of chain reactions.

We must learn to accept, understand the value of oneself,
Not get lost in a superficial world of brands,
For there’s no importance in a decorative shelf,
Unless its built from one’s own hands.

We must come together, yet be 6 feet apart,
 achieve our societal goals,
For we are still close at heart,
And united by our souls.

We must remember: love, compassion, humanity,
Right, together, one,
For even in the darkest calamity,
Hope will be our Sun.

If we stand as tall as a tree,
We shine as bright as the Sun,
I have no doubt, trust me,
Tomorrow will come.
